Adoption Tales - Georgie & Jubie

Georgie and Jubie are two lovely ten-year-old brothers who had to be rehomed when their owner went into hospital, and who remained unclaimed for months in spite of their sweet dispositions, much to the consternation of everyone at the branch. Fortunately Lauren - one of our volunteers - has taken them on, and as their tale shows, things have really come together for our boys!

10 days into their stay ...

"Thought it was time for an update. I collected Georgie & Jubie on Friday 10th August, so they have been in their new home for 10 days now. The first 3-4 days, they were both in 'hide & seek' mode, only emerging to eat and spending each night yowling at the moon! With a bit of gentle verbal persuasion, they have emerged and are gradually accepting their new environment and are displaying a growing trust of me. Jubie is the more extrovert character of the two, coming to me for fussing, wanting to play and explore. Georgie is being more hesitant and I still have to seek him out for cuddles! They have both staked claim to their favourite windowsills and are often to be found there during the day, obviously desperate to escape into the fresh air! One thing at a time guys..."

Another week later ...

"One cat flap installed! Only took an hour and two cups of coffee to get up the gumption to connect saw to door. Job done and looks great. Now to get the boys to use it....

They have a cat flap that responds to microchips - managed to programme their chips into it with the use of tasty tit-bits, but I think it will take a little longer to persuade them to actually use it!

George & Jubie have been introduced to the outside world. George went first yesterday morning - we went for a walk through the garden and along the road. Around one o'clock I opened the door and crossed my fingers - that was the last I saw of him until 9.30 yesterday evening, when I heard him battling with the cat flap. During that time, I was the mad woman peering into people's gardens and calling Georgie all around the block! Today a repeat with Jubie - he was even outside in the thunder storm, but both boys are now in, have had their dinner and settled on windowsills for the evening. Happy boys!"
